The Oslo Kammerakademi is one of the leading European wind ensembles in historical harmony instrumentation. Initiated and led by the solo oboist of the Oslo Philharmonic, David Friedemann Strunck, the ensemble has been dedicated since its founding in 2009 to chamber music for winds with great consistency and artistic curiosity – from its Viennese origins in the late 18th century to the music of our time. The Oslo Kammerakademi has earned an excellent international reputation: acclaimed performances at renowned festivals such as the Rheingau Music Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the Trondheim and Oslo Chamber Music Festivals, as well as multiple award-winning CD recordings, document the extraordinary quality and stylistic range of the ensemble. All of their releases have received outstanding reviews both nationally and internationally.
Characteristic of the sound of the Oslo Kammerakademi is the use of historical brass instruments, which bring baroque, classical, and romantic repertoire to life with a unique sonic authenticity. At the same time, the ensemble sees itself as a vibrant part of the present: numerous contemporary works for wind ensemble have been created in close collaboration with composers such as Magnar Åm, Ketil Hvoslef, Gisle Kverndokk, and Lars Petter Hagen.
The program "In the Light of the North" combines Nordic tonal colors with the rich tradition of harmony music. Works by Johan Halvorsen, Julius Röntgen, Louis Théodore Gouvy, and Johan Svendsen unfold a colorful panorama between dance-like lightness, lyrical intimacy, and symphonic power – masterfully arranged for this exceptional instrumentation. An evening concert full of Nordic sound poetry, historical depth, and vibrant presence – precise, colorful, and profoundly musical.
