MICHAEL is the portrait of an exceptional artist whose music has moved the world and inspired every generation to this day. The film tells the story of Michael Jackson's life – far beyond the music. It traces his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead singer of the Jackson Five to the visionary artist whose creative ambition drove him tirelessly to become the greatest entertainer in the world. From some of his legendary performances during his early solo career to his life offstage – the audience has a front-row seat to an unprecedented look at the life of the pop icon. This is where his story begins. Jaafar Jackson makes his feature film debut with MICHAEL. Alongside him are Nia Long (Empire, Boyz n the Hood), Laura Harrier (BlacKkKlansman, Spider-Man: Homecoming), Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick, Whiplash), and two-time Oscar® nominee Colman Domingo (Sing Sing, Rustin). Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the award-winning filmmaker known for Training Day and the Equalizer series. The screenplay was written by three-time Oscar® nominee John Logan (Gladiator, Aviator). MICHAEL is produced by Oscar® winner Graham King (The Departed, Bohemian Rhapsody), John Branca (Executive Producer of Michael Jackson’s This Is It, Thriller 40), and John McClain (Executive Producer of Michael Jackson’s This Is It, Michael Jackson Live at Wembley July 16, 1988).
