The Austrian Sculpture Park in Premstätten showcases art where it can breathe: in the open air, among meadows, paths, water features, and clearly defined garden spaces. During the guided tours on July 19 and August 23 at 11:30 AM, visitors can view over 80 contemporary sculptures and a landscape garden that changes with each season. This special place is located just a few kilometers south of Graz. The park was designed by landscape architect Dieter Kienast and resembles a large reading book in the greenery. Some works stand quietly in the grass, while others reach into the space, reflect in the water, or reveal their essence only up close. This creates a silent dialogue between art, nature, and humanity. The tour makes it visible how extensive the vocabulary of contemporary sculpture is. Abstract forms stand alongside figurative works. Everyday objects become art. Functional items gain new meaning. Names like Fritz Wotruba, Franz West, Erwin Wurm, and Yoko Ono illustrate the diversity of sculpture in the 20th and 21st centuries. Especially in summer, a walk through the Austrian Sculpture Park is worthwhile. Light, shadow, plants, and paths subtly alter the impression of the works.
