Summer Festival: The Base

Summer Festival: The Base brings indie rock and indie folk to the Schilcherhof Ligist on July 3rd at 8:00 PM. The guest garden at Dietenberg is a perfect match for this music: open, direct, and without much fuss. In nice weather, the audience sits outside; in case of rain, the concert moves into the pub hall. Music contribution: €20.00 per person. Starting at 6:00 PM, the kitchen will be in action, serving what belongs to a good evening in the Graz experience region. The Base is a Graz trio with a long history. The band formed in 1989, making it older than their debut in 1996 and older than many online memories. Norbert Wally, Karlheinz Miklin Jr., and Albrecht Klinger bring forth songs from three decades. Some are well-known, some half-forgotten, and therein lies the charm. From 15 albums, an evening unfolds that sounds like a small record box from Graz. Guitars take the lead, the voices remain close, and the rhythm holds everything together. Between indie rock, indie folk, and fine pop traces, it becomes clear why this band has its place in Styria. The summer festival at Schilcherhof remains down-to-earth: music at eye level, a pub next door, and the west of Graz very close. Ligist offers a tranquil hilly setting, Schilcher, orchards, and that relaxed West Styrian attitude. This gives the concert evening a warm frame without diminishing the music. A summer evening with great sound.
