ASSIST Concert: BAROQUE

Baroque works for violin and lute. Maria Ines Zanovello and Jadran Duncumb. The ASSIST Foundation (Anton Steck String Instrument Foundation) was established in May of last year. To kick things off, the founder donated a high-quality concert violin built in Rome in 1734 by Francesco de Emiliani. This instrument is currently being played by our first candidate, the Italian Maria Ines Zanovello, and will be presented in this concert. The rare combination of violin and lute offers captivating sounds in the small music hall of the former castle! We can look forward to works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, and the somewhat lesser-known Friedrich Wilhelm Rust (1739–96). NB – Anniversary Note: The music hall is located just a few steps away from today’s library—the building that has served as Radolfzell’s town hall since 1734. This links the history of the violin and music to the history of our city.
