Slave Revolt at the Vienna Court Theatre! In 1726, Giuseppe Porsile premiered the dramatic story of Spartacus and the revolt he instigated here. The native Neapolitan Porsile had been living in the imperial city since 1713 and finally secured the long-awaited position at court seven years later. The following period proved to be his most theatrically successful, as he created over 20 stage works and 13 oratorios.
