Mima Schwahn: Where the Hearth is

TOURDATA

Eisenbahngasse 20, 4020 Linz

At the center is the technique of stucco marble, where gypsum, pigments, and glue are processed into stone-like surfaces. The manufacturing process becomes an approximation of geological processes between stability and change, where natural processes and cultural interpretation intertwine.

The exhibition "Where the Hearth Is" expands this engagement into the planetary realm. The "Hearth" is understood not only as a place of comfort but also as the dynamic interior of the Earth, whose dynamics give rise to conditions of stability. The works address forms of dwelling and being on the move as provisional states on a surface of the Earth that is experienced as stable, yet is in a constant state of movement and transformation.
