The "Historical Knife Smithy" and "Rake Maker's House" museums are open

The two museums document life and work in Mössingen in days gone by. They are open only on select days during the summer months. The first day of the season is traditionally International Museum Day in May. From June through October, they are open on the first Sunday of each month from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. At the knife smithy, the forge is fired up and demonstrations are given on how to forge and how knives receive their final polish. An impressive collection of pocket knives and a small exhibition on the lives of the residents round out the experience. The rake maker’s house offers insights into a typical Mössingen craft. Mössingen’s hayforks and rakes were widely known throughout the region.
