“The Power of Friendship,” one of the titles of the new, second album by this boy band with jazz roots, says it all. The four cosmonauts from Bielsko-Biała, who can now primarily be found between Warsaw and Berlin, find their sound in friendship and their groove in the commonalities of past lives and preferences. The bass draws its lines stoically, the drummer heats things up with polyrhythms like a lovechild of Yussef Dayes and Makaya McCraven, the saxophonist loves both Johnny Hodges and Ornette Coleman equally, and the vibraphonist has done his homework from Bobby Hutcherson to Roy Ayers, transforming their insights into his own melodic magic. Cosmonautically cool.
