The vocal improviser, who lives in Berlin and was recently nominated for the German Jazz Award, pours out her vocal magma sometimes eruptively, sometimes gently flowing, and then again in the high arc of an aria scream over the instrumental drones of her fellow musicians in the Lava Quartet. Whether "Ethereal Singing" or bubbling "Water Circles," the Catalan pianist Jordina Millà, who lives in Salzburg, the Portuguese bassist Gonçalo Almeida, who lives in Rotterdam, and drummer/percussionist Wieland Möller, who grew up in Stralsund and now calls Berlin home, always resonate in sync with the communal sound dramaturgy. "It is a testament to the power of spontaneous musical expression and creates an exciting and unpredictable musical journey – both for the performers and the audience," as stated in a text about their debut album.
