##### The Augustinian Monastery in Öhningen **Early Stone Structures and a Cemetery with a View of the Lake Archaeological Investigations at the Augustinian Monastery in Öhningen** **Saturday, September 12, 7:00 p.m. Augustinian Monastery Main Building, 2nd Floor Speaker: Dr. Bertram Jenisch** In connection with the restoration of the imposing building complex of the former Augustinian Canons’ Monastery in Öhningen, archaeological monitoring and salvage excavations were conducted from 2010 to 2018. The extensive remains of a previously unknown stone structure dating from the mid-12th century, as well as a cemetery dating back to the 8th century, provide important insights into the early architectural history of the complex. Dr. Bertram Jenisch led the excavations at the time and provides insights into the findings as well as the fascinating work of the archaeologists. The image shows the 2018 excavation sections to the south and east of the complex, in front of the former provost’s residence.
