Jascha von der Goltz, one of the most promising conductors of his generation, will take over as conductor of the orchestra starting in 2026. Soloist Sueye Park is undoubtedly at the dawn of an international career: she is a prize winner of the prestigious 2025 Sibelius Competition. *The Dedication of the House*—a work that Ludwig van Beethoven himself composed to celebrate a new beginning—opens the first orchestral concert of the anniversary edition of the Höri Musiktage. In late September 1822, he wrote the overture for the reopening of the Vienna Theater in the Josefstadt, which took place on October 3 of that same year. The occasion was a festival titled “The Consecration of the House” by the poet Carl Meisl, for which Beethoven contributed stage music. To complete the work, he drew in part on music from his earlier piece *The Ruins of Athens, Op. 113*, but also composed a new overture and additional pieces specifically for this occasion. Despite his already severely impaired hearing, the composer conducted the premiere himself. Contemporary reports describe the unusual situation in which a second conductor stood behind him to signal the orchestra’s entries. The audience reacted enthusiastically: Beethoven was celebrated with great cheers at the end of the performance.
