As part of the International Weeks Against Racism 2026, the audiovisual exhibition "PUSHBACK" will be shown at KFZ Marburg from July 1 to 5. Recordings and items from the Bosnian-Croatian border make palpable what lies behind the 2021 word of the year: the illegal, often brutal pushing back of asylum seekers by masked and armed border officials – without examining the reasons for flight, without the possibility of applying for asylum.
The exhibition deliberately counterposes the perspective of those affected to the debate about figures, measures, and payment cards, and asks: What does this border look like? How does it sound? What does it mean for the people who are pushed back there time and time again?
