On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Urft dam, the Eifel-Rur Water Association and the Eifel National Park Administration are offering a special free excursion:
As part of a hike through the Kermeter - the "ecological heart" of the Eifel National Park - interested individuals have the opportunity to gain exclusive insights into the interior of the dam halfway through the trail.
Staff from the water association will guide visitors through the impressive structure: It’s a descent of over 360 steps to the control corridors within the dam. Since a constant temperature of only 8 to 10 degrees prevails there, appropriate clothing is recommended - regardless of the likely summer temperatures outside! Afterwards, there is an opportunity to enjoy refreshments at the dam on a self-pay basis before returning to the Wild Kermeter.
Due to the length and inclines, the hike is challenging and not suitable for children under 6-7 years old. The interior of the dam is also not suitable for strollers. The number of participants is limited,
