##### Pilgrimage to Schienen & Morning Beer Sunday, July 5, 2026 Solemn Mass at the St. Genesius Pilgrimage Church **Starting at 11:00 a.m. – Morning beer at the Schienen fire station** Refreshments provided by the Schienen Youth Fire Brigade On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the joint pilgrimage from Bohlingen to the St. Genesius Pilgrimage Church in Schienen will take place. Following the pilgrimage, we will celebrate a solemn Mass at the pilgrimage church. Starting at 11:00 a.m., the Schienen Youth Fire Department cordially invites you to a morning pint at the Schienen fire station. The Hörimusikanten will provide excellent musical entertainment. Refreshments will also be plentiful. Catering will be provided by the Schienen Youth Fire Department. We look forward to welcoming many visitors and enjoying a wonderful day together in a convivial atmosphere. People have been making pilgrimages to the **miraculous image of “Mary with the Child”** for centuries. The wooden sculpture from 1430 forms the centerpiece of the Marian pilgrimage, which is why the church is also known as a pilgrimage church. Pilgrims often walk from Bohlingen to Schienen along the steep Way of the Cross, which features 14 stations. The Bohlingen pilgrimage to Schienen takes place on the first Sunday in July. Next to the right-hand side altar with the miraculous image, a mural from around 1450 depicts three former local lords, including Werner von Schienen on the left. He had owned Schrotzburg Castle above Schienen, which was destroyed in 1441 as a result of his acts of robber baronry.
