Midsummer Ride on the Trollinger Express

All wine lovers who enjoy unique wine tastings have the opportunity here to enjoy a culinary journey through the vineyards in a small group aboard the “Trollinger Express.” Here, you can taste wine right in the countryside where it grows. You’ll see what happens in the vineyard and how the “Remstäler” is cultivated. The “tractor,” an A22 vintage tractor built in 1951, was manufactured until 1953 by the Allgaier company in Uhingen in the neighboring Filstal valley. It is known by the nickname “Wurstkocher” (sausage cooker). A real “workhorse,” as the Swabians say. The single-cylinder, four-stroke swirl chamber engine with evaporative cooling and a flywheel delivers up to 22 hp. A unique sound in the Remstal. The “Trollinger Express Ride” is offered from April through August. It departs at 4:30 p.m. (or later) and heads up into the Geradstetten and Hebsack vineyards. It includes a sparkling wine reception with canapés, 4 wine tastings (0.1 L each), juice, sparkling water, and a small, seasonal Swabian snack such as a butter pretzel with Peitschenstecken. The “short ride” lasts approximately 2.5–3 hours (until around 7:30 PM). Those who wish may visit the Besagärtle afterward during the summer wine tavern opening hours, Thursday through Sunday: a table is reserved for Trollinger Express passengers on this day. The trailer offers space for up to 12 guests in the covered wagon and 1 guest on the driver’s seat. The vintage Wengerter Wolfgang Häfner, built in 1952, serves as the Remstal guide—he shares stories about the landscape, wine, and local people. In good weather, driver Otto drives with the top down; in bad weather, the top is up. However, we always reserve the right to postpone trips due to weather conditions (e.g., thunderstorms, heavy rain, extreme heat, or the driver’s illness). In the event of thunderstorms, extreme heat, heavy rain, or the driver’s illness, we reserve the right to reschedule the tour. Changes to the number of participants and cancellations are only possible up to 4 days before the booked event. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Children are not permitted on the tour.
