Something is brewing!
Hallein and beer – this is a long and varied love story. Even in the Early Modern Period, Hallein was a stronghold of brewing. A remarkable eleven licensed breweries existed in the Hallein area in the 18th century. Today, the Hofbräu Kaltenhausen, founded in 1475, still reminds us of this golden age of brewing. Recently, many new, young beers have joined the scene. On the "Hops and Malt" tour, we visit Hallein's gastronomy establishments and taste beers together with a beer sommelier. The tour is garnished with stories and anecdotes about Hallein and the golden liquid barley.
