On August 29 and 30, 2026, the archaeological open-air site of MAMUZ Castle Asparn/Zaya will transform into a venue for the legendary, mythical horse-riding peoples from the vast steppes of Central Asia. The Huns Festival showcases how the Huns, Avars, Lombards, and Scythians lived and captivates with an extensive program dedicated to the Migration Period: the infamous horseback combat techniques will be demonstrated, yurts, clothing, and weapons will be presented, along with drum rhythms and Mongolian music. Craft demonstrations, such as bow-making and blacksmithing, as well as numerous interactive stations for visitors of all ages, offer a comprehensive experience program for the whole family.
