Paris 1821, at the Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles, France's national institution for the blind: It is the "night writing" of a certain Charles Barbier that puts the blind Louis Braille into deep contemplation. Fascinated, the boy runs his fingertips over the raised symbols and asks himself one question: Is this writing, originally conceived as a secret code for the military, perhaps the vehicle to freedom? The love for literature and language led Thomas Zwerina to study English and German studies at J. L. U. Gießen. Over the years, the enterprising author and composer has gained stage experience in the fields of literature, theater, and music. In 2018, Thomas Zwerina became completely blind, but this does not deter him as a creative artist.
