For over 150 years, the bachelors' association has organized the St. Laurentius Kirmes, the patronal feast, in Niederbreitbach on behalf of the parish community. Every year on the second weekend of August, the name day of our patron saint is celebrated extensively from Friday to Monday.
The festivities traditionally begin with the raising of the maypole in the village square, followed by a large parade through the entire village on Saturday. On Saturday evening, we host a concert featuring a live band, which has taken place in an open-air format since 2021 and attracts many guests of all ages from beyond the community borders.
On Sunday, there is the festive high mass followed by a procession to the fairgrounds and a subsequent morning gathering.
The afternoon is dedicated to families with a wide range of fun activities for young and old. Of course, the traditional King's Ball on Sunday evening with music and dance is also a must.
The final day of the Kirmes is Monday. It starts again with a morning gathering before the local community comes together for a communal stew meal. Afterwards, the bachelors are sent out to collect eggs in the village, which are then baked and enjoyed together in the evening. The conclusion of the Kirmes consists of a cozy get-together, which has been spiced up since 2023 by a very funny, interactive quiz show.
