Gengenbach Wine and City Festival

Traditional Wine and City Festival against the historic backdrop of Gengenbach’s Old Town This September weekend is a must-attend event for wine lovers: That’s when the Gengenbach Wine and Town Festival is celebrated in the historic old town—with excellent wines, lively music, and plenty of delicacies. In 2025, it will take place on September 13 and 14, coinciding with the grand 1,300th anniversary of the monastery. Winegrowing has a long tradition in Gengenbach. More than a thousand years ago, Benedictine monks planted the first grapevines here in Gengenbach. And thus, over 1,130 years ago, the foundation for winegrowing in the Ortenau region was laid. Not only did numerous vineyards spring up—which still bear witness to this era today—but wines from this region can also be sampled during the Gengenbach Wine and City Festival. The old town continues to provide a unique atmosphere.
