Laura Galstyan will perform pieces by Rachmaninoff and Chopin at the Stadthalle “I play the piano for Weltklassik because I believe in the power of classical music—its depth, its timelessness, its ability to captivate people, regardless of age or background. A single note can sometimes say more than a thousand words.” - Laura Galstyan Laura Galstyan was born in Armenia in 2003. "World-Class Classical Piano—The Timeless Legacy—Baroque Meets Romanticism: Rachmaninoff and Chopin!" Baldassare Galuppi was one of the most famous opera composers in 18th-century Europe. Sonata No. 5 was popularized by Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli and is a lyrical instrumental piece. “Liebesleid” is one of three pieces in the series “Old Viennese Dance Tunes” for violin and piano, composed by Fritz Kreisler. Sergei Rachmaninoff recorded his own virtuoso transcriptions. The “Corelli Variations,” which Rachmaninoff composed in 1931 as his final work for solo piano while in exile in the United States, are characterized by melancholic undertones. Rachmaninoff was inspired by Kreisler, who had also used the “La Follia” theme. The work is dedicated to him. Both the mazurkas and the polonaises were originally Polish folk dances. Despite Chopin’s career abroad, his heart always remained in Poland.
