Encounters and Conversations - Curious About History? – A Visit to the Sigmaringen State Archives The Sigmaringen State Archives, which covers the Hohenzollern region and southern Württemberg, now holds over 23 km of archival records dating from the 11th to the 21st century. Not only is the content of the State Archives historically significant, but so is the building that houses them. The Prinzenbau was built in the 19th century as a residence for members of the princely House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. The state of Baden-Württemberg has since converted the princely palace into a modern archive building, while the old state rooms—such as the Garden Hall, the Hall of Mirrors, the Black Hall, and the chapel—have been lovingly restored.
