Bad Rappenau
Traditional market in the center of Wollenberg.
Wollenberg, the smallest district of Bad Rappenau, boasts the town’s oldest market rights. The market’s tradition can be traced back to the 17th century. The market quickly gained significance that extended far beyond the small village itself. Even today, visitors from all over come to the idyllic Wollenbach Valley in July to stroll through the market, shop at the market stalls, and enjoy the culinary offerings.
Many new regional vendors and artisans are offering their wares this year. Take advantage of the wide variety on offer: leather goods (wallets/bags), stylish hats and caps, silver jewelry, toys, sunglasses, wristwatches, brushes and brooms, regional products and foods—including honey, oils, pesto, fine spirits, DIY items made of wood, plaster, felt, and much more.
The Jakobimarkt begins on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with a church service led by Pastor Daniel Fritsch on Kelterplatz. The market festivities will then begin with an official welcome address to visitors by Mayor Sebastian Frei.
The Wollenberg Volunteer Fire Department will once again provide refreshments with its popular lunch menu and grilled specialties, and will of course also offer coffee and cake in the afternoon. The Wirtshaus zum Herboldshof will also be open.
The Jakobimarkt will feature musical entertainment by the Heinsheim Brass Band. They will be performing on Kelterplatz from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There’s also an exciting program in store for our youngest visitors! Kids can burn off some energy on the bouncy castle and then spend time at the play street, where they can enjoy duck fishing, arts and crafts, face painting, and much more. At the Wollenberg Volunteer Fire Department, kids can step into the role of a firefighter during the water-spraying game. A children’s flea market with many interesting items rounds out the offerings. New this year is the “archery” activity for young and old alike.
