Eifelerlebnis: Wandern und Besichtigen - Urftstaumauer

A very special excursion awaits you. The tour begins in Gemünd. From there, you will take a bus to Einruhr via Walberhof. After a short stop in Einruhr, a nearly silent electric boat trip starts across the idyllic Obersee to the Urft Dam. The numerous bends offer breathtaking views of nature – this part of the lake is not without reason called the "Amazon of the Eifel." A particular highlight is the visit to the interior of the Urft Dam with its numerous steps and the impressive engineering of past times. The imposing structure from 1905 was once considered the largest dam in Europe and still impresses today with its technical and architectural significance. After a lunch break with self-catering, a guided hike along the Urft Lake back to Gemünd will take place (approx. 12 km). Alternatively, a more demanding but shorter route with a steep ascent over the Victor Neels Bridge to the Forum Vogelsang can be chosen after consultation with the participants. From there, the return journey to Gemünd will be by bus. The event uniquely combines nature experiences, history, and movement, promising an unforgettable day in the Eifel.
