The Speyer Cantata presents "Advent Music by Candlelight"

On Sunday, December 20, 2026, at 5 o'clock p.m. in the Memorial Church Speyer, the traditional Advent concert of the Speyer Cantata will take place again. In the atmospheric church spaces illuminated by candlelight, the Speyer Cantata and the children's choirs at the Memorial Church will perform familiar tunes to welcome the upcoming Christmas celebration.
The program is varied, featuring works from all musical eras. Among others, compositions from Hammerschmidt to Max Reger will be performed. The focus of the festive program is on inner reflection and preparation for the arrival of the Christ Child. Church President Dorothee Wüst will deliver a reflective meditation to encourage pause and thought, while Dean Miriam Dembek will present the readings.

The musical direction is under the leadership of Church Music Director Robert Sattelberger, who aims to create a small island of tranquility in the hectic pre-Christmas season with this Advent concert. The Advent music by candlelight has become a fixed part of the musical annual plan of the Memorial Church following the successes of recent years. Admission is free.
