Dürkheim Sausage Market - The world's greatest wine festival

On the 2nd and 3rd weekends of September, Bad Dürkheim will again celebrate the largest wine festival in the world – the Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt!

For over 600 years, Bad Dürkheim has been celebrating its traditional festival. And even if the name suggests otherwise: Traditionally, wine plays the dominant role at the Wurstmarkt. All the wines offered here are award-winning and come from local vineyards. Today, the Wurstmarkt is the largest wine festival in the world, with over 600,000 visitors: 9 days of celebration, 36 pushcart stands, a wine village, and around 300 wine specialties!

Alongside wine and sausage, it is the rides that make the Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt so interesting. With a successful mix of spectacular rides and games as well as classic attractions, the largest wine festival in the world offers fun and entertainment for young and old. New rides and a different layout of the festival grounds each year ensure variety and many surprises. Several children's rides and attractions complete the offering and delight even the youngest Wurstmarkt guests.

The traditional pushcart stands, where Wurstmarkt guests sit closely together on narrow wooden benches at equally narrow tables, are part of the Wurstmarkt experience. The name "pushcart stand" already recalls times long past: when winemakers pushed the wines on pushcarts to the festival grounds and simply turned them around to store the barrels for dispensing once they arrived. Today, the 36 stands, built year after year according to old tradition, are much more comfortable. Nowhere else at the Wurstmarkt is it so easy for locals and visitors alike to enjoy the variety of traditional "Pälzer Schobbe" in a sociable atmosphere and to chat about "this and that."

The wine village

If you want to enjoy a variety of exquisite wines in style and an upscale atmosphere, along with fine foods, the wine village is the perfect place! Established in 1992, the wine village offers a delicious selection of classic white wines to characterful red wines or hand-sparkled winemaker's sparkling wines. For the culinary well-being, freshly prepared, finely seasoned dishes are provided. There is something for everyone in the wine village: Thirteen wine tents and four gastronomic tents sweeten the stay for all guests.
