Weltklassik am Klavier

Alexey Chernov
The pianist and composer Alexey Chernov was born in 1982 into a Russian family of musicians. He showed talent early on and began his musical education at the age of six. He completed his degrees at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Royal College of Music in London. Alexey Chernov is a winner of numerous awards and scholarships. He has received over ten first prizes. Moreover, he is particularly distinguished by his extraordinarily extensive and varied repertoire. He regularly performs worldwide, has played at numerous festivals, and produced many international CDs. His second passion is composing: He has composed a wealth of pieces for piano, as well as for chamber music and orchestra. In 2023, he transcribed Mozart's immortal "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" for piano - with several variations. The work is dedicated to the founder of Weltklassik, Kathrin Haarstick. Another captivating transcription with variations has since emerged for the Dance of the Knights from Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev.
Chernov has lived in Germany since 2022, where he held the Resident Artist status at the Beethoven House in Bonn.
