Kirchenführung im "Dom am Pyhrn"

Domenico Antonio Carlone adorned the interior of the church with his calm color palette and magnificent stucco pilasters. The frescoes by Bartolomeo Altomonte in the presbytery represent a highlight of Baroque church painting in Upper Austria. The closing grille crafted by Andreas Ferdinand Lindemayr is considered one of the most beautiful wrought iron works in Austria. Artistic sensibility and faith have allowed our house of worship to emerge so splendidly.

North of the church, in the so-called "Dechantstöckel," is the treasury of the former monastery of Spital. It housed documents, vestments, and liturgical items. Today, the treasury features particularly valuable sculptures, vestments, and also historically significant documents related to the monastery and the two churches.

The crypt beneath the presbytery of the monastery church was the burial site of the canons of Spital am Pyhrn. From January 25 to May 15, 1945, the entire gold treasure of the Hungarian National Bank (33,000 kg) was stored here. The crypt was restored in 1992.
