A beautiful ensemble: framed by an idyllic English landscape park, Eckartsau Castle lies in the middle of the Danube Floodplain National Park. Empress Maria Theresa acquired it because of its rich hunting grounds, heir to the throne Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Habsburg d'Este, also a passionate hunter, further expanded it and laid out the park.
