The Erzberg is the largest open pit mine in Central Europe, the most important ore deposit in the Alps, a symbol of Austria's industrialization and a central part of the Iron Road. Rock has been mined at the Styrian Erzberg for more than 1300 years. Up to this day, the multi-level face is sharpened daily with the most modern open-cast mining technology, in 4-shift operation. A total of twelve million tons of rock are extracted annually in the staged open-pit mining process. How? With daily blasting, of course!

During a visit to the show mine, Adventure Ore Mountain combines history with the present, allows guests to experience open pit mining up close on a ride in the Hauly, provides insights into the miners' everyday work and shows glimpses of the future.
