The Lipizzaner Stud Piber has the task of breeding the oldest cultural horse breed in Europe - the Lipizzaners - whose origins date back to the imperial period, to the year 1580. The heart of the Lipizzaner breeding in Piber are the mother mares: they ensure the offspring and they are given special attention here. Every year, around 40 foals are born in western Styria - and not with their famous white coat, but black, gray or brown. Only in the next four to ten years do they get the typical white for which the Lipizzaners are known, loved and famous.
