As every year, the popular spring concert of the Bürgermusik from Bad Goisern takes place in the inner courtyard of Schloss Neuwildenstein on this morning.

Look forward to a varied program of polkas, marches, and modern musical pieces.

The oldest brass band in the Salzkammergut - 2024: 190 years of Bürgermusik Bad Goisern

The Bürgermusik Bad Goisern was founded in 1834 with the purpose of "giving the celebrations in the town a fitting framework." The first public performance took place during the Corpus Christi festival in 1834. The brown uniform with felt hat and ostrich feather is derived from the Spanish court ceremonial.

The Bürgermusik consists of about 50 members and plays for religious occasions (Easter Sunday, Corpus Christi) as well as for secular events (morning concerts, honors).

In addition to several concerts, the Cäcilien concert at the end of November is the highlight of the music year. Furthermore, the Bürgermusik from Bad Goisern is also the organizer of the popular cycling event during the Goiserer Gamsjagatage.

Music - a lived tradition

In the holiday region of Dachstein Salzkammergut, music plays a significant role, especially in the preservation of traditions. In Bad Goisern, Gosau, Hallstatt, and Obertraun, there are numerous music bands that organize concerts themselves and also musically accompany all important events in the towns.

A well-known musician from the region is Hubert von Goisern. He has his roots in Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt, and this is reflected in his music.
