Maypole raising in Obertraun

Need in the Inner Salzkammergut
In the early afternoon, the Maypole is felled, stripped, and traditionally hoisted into the air by the Obertraun mountain rescuers and helpers using muscle power at the community square that same evening.
From 6:00 PM, bratwurst and drinks will be served.
After 7:00 PM, the tree will be decorated before being raised.
Just before darkness falls, the tree, standing at about 30 meters, is positioned in front of the municipal office and is then guarded by the local boys.
Special thanks go to the wives of the mountain rescuers, who continually bind the wreaths and garlands for us.
