Palm Sunday is the last Sunday in Lent, the Sunday before Easter – it marks the beginning of Holy Week. According to the New Testament, the jubilant crowd greeted Jesus Christ with palm branches and olive branches as he rode into the city of Jerusalem on a donkey for the Passover festival. The Catholic Church celebrates this day with the blessing of palms, a palm procession, and the reading of the Passion (the story of the suffering of Jesus Christ). Palm branches are considered a symbol of life, resurrection after death, and victory.
