1. Chamber Concert

The program of the opening concert on May 15 begins almost traditionally with a work by Haydn, one of the late piano trios that continually fascinate with their musically mature mastery. With its oriental and folkloric allusions, Khatchaturian's clarinet trio, written in 1932, transports the listener to a completely different sound world, which seamlessly connects to Paul Dukas' "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" with its romantic-impressionistic tones. By the way, the work received a captivating visual interpretation in 1940 with the scene "Sorcerer Mickey" in Walt Disney's "Fantasia," where Mickey Mouse acts as the apprentice sorcerer battling brooms and water to Dukas' music.

In the second part of the concert, the virtuoso-dramatic first piano quartet by Dukas' contemporary Gabriel Fauré will be performed.
