Around 300 years ago, a pious brotherhood fed the poor of the town on the 4th Sunday of Lent.
This is how the good deed - confirming love / paying love - became Liebstattsonntag!
On this day, people in the Salzkammergut give each other a gingerbread heart out of affection, love or friendship. The elderly, sick and lonely are also given gifts on this day!
