Nußdorf cot in the music pavilion

TOURDATA

Seestraße 2, 4865 Nußdorf am Attersee

History of origin:
In 1998, the idea of using the music pavilion also in winter arose. The Nußdorfer Goldhaubenfrauen went to work with the painter and sculptor, Mrs Nora Brunnhofer, and created the core of today's collection: the Holy Family with two shepherds, inspired by the husbands of active traditional costume women: the baker Hans with the bread loaf and the innkeeper Walter with the wine jug and winegrower's apron.
In the second year, the old Hiaslbauer-Leut (Gruber), honourable former farmers and citizens of Nußdorf, were added.
Animals and other figures were also gradually created. In 2000, a few more figures were created, such as a pair of young brothers. The former owners of Raggingen are also in the group: he as the butcher with the sausage wreath in his pocket, she as the unforgettable landlady concerned about the well-being of her guests, and since 2001 also Hanni's aunt.
Not to be forgotten is the old Schwarzenbach woman, the child-rich mountain farmer's wife, who supplements her modest farm income with the egg basket. Toni Baumann, a war invalid, is a humorous character from our village life.

The aristocratic visitor to the nativity scene, Baron Eugen von Ransonnet, is already a considerable way back in time. The Three Wise Men were also a late addition to the Nußdorf nativity scene.
Today, the municipality owes the first developments in tourism in the municipality of Nußdorf am Attersee to him.
The cot became royal in 2001, when Nora Brunnhofer made the Three Kings.

The human-sized figures stand in the music pavilion in Nußdorf and are not overlooked by walkers or passers-by on the street.

The angel placed above the cot proclaims:
"Take a break and stop by where the people of Nußdorf keep watch at Christmas time at the village cot - and with their ancestors!"

As already mentioned, the figures were made according to Mrs Nora Brunnhofer's own designs. She is a trained painter and sculptor and has been responsible for countless backdrops and masks at the Linz State Theatre since 1970.
Mrs Brunnhofer did not know most of the figures personally and therefore had to rely on photographic representations. When selecting the materials, particular emphasis was placed on weather resistance and easy handling.

As the figures are human-sized, they need a lot of supportive hands to put them up. Thank you to everyone who sets up and maintains the nativity scene every year! The Goldhaubengruppe, Verschönerungsverein and the Friends of the Village Nativity Scene wish you a pleasant visit to the Nußdorf Nativity Scene!
