The Karlskirche in Vienna - "St. Charles Borromeo" - is considered the most significant sacred building north of the Alps. It was commissioned by Emperor Charles VI and built from 1716 after the last major plague epidemic, being completed in 1737. In 1741, Antonio Vivaldi was buried directly at the Karlskirche. Until 1918, it served as the imperial patronage church. Today, you can experience authentic concerts in the Karlskirche featuring the orchestra 1756, which performs on original instruments, along with its soloists. Our traditional performances of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" have become widely known for their high artistic competence and vibrant interpretation.
