BIOGRAPHY

Mario Pecoraro moved with his family to Styria as a primary school child, where his father was engaged as a tenor at the Graz Opera. There, Mario also made a musical impression at the age of nine: as the youngest student for percussion at the Graz Conservatory, he was celebrated in various talent competitions throughout Austria. At the age of 15, he relocated with his family to Klosterneuburg near Vienna due to his father's engagement at the Vienna State Opera.

Mario took advantage of the move to pursue his career at the Music Gymnasium in Vienna and enrolled at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna as the youngest student for classical percussion. His interest in jazz and Latin American music grew stronger, leading him to increasingly turn to his "instrument of the heart," the piano. As part of his piano studies in jazz and popular music, he was selected in 1998 from many applicants for a one-year scholarship at the University of Miami. After a successful year of study in Miami, he became the first Austrian to receive a full scholarship for piano and jazz singing at the University of Miami/School of Music. During this time, he performed several times with the vocal ensemble JV1, which has won 14 DownBeat Awards throughout its career. Additionally, Mario received extensive training as an arranger and composer.

Back in Vienna, Mario successfully completed his studies and tried to establish himself as a musician in his homeland. In 2003, he was engaged as a permanent ensemble member of the formation "The Rounder Girls" as a solo pianist and was the keyboardist for the successful Austrian live band "Die SEER" from 2009 to 2015. His own projects were not neglected during this time either. He developed the Rocket Man Show, an Elton John tribute show. Mario lives in Vienna, has been married since 2003, and is the father of two children.
