In the 18th century, "Willkür" represented artistic freedom. In music, a distinction was made between essential and arbitrary manners: the former were notated, while the latter allowed for improvisational freedom. The program "Die Willkür" featuring works by Vivaldi, Telemann, Fasch, and Bonporti celebrates this space for interpretative imagination and sonic eloquence.
