Ernst Molden & Neue Wiener Concert Schrammeln

The love song, affectionately yet irreverently referred to as "Hadern" (meaning scraps) in Viennese, is a cornerstone of the work of singer-songwriter and poet Ernst Molden, especially since he attended Nick Cave's class at the School of Poetry in the 1990s, where Cave explained to his students under the title "The Lovesong and How to Write One" that there is no nobler art than writing a love song. Molden told Ö1: "Actually, I've been writing songs for decades to be seen as cool by the same woman." The album project MEI LIAB is now entirely and exclusively dedicated to the love song, in a unique and special collaboration: Ernst Molden has the NEUE WIENER CONCERT SCHRAMMELN by his side, gentle modernizers of classical Viennese folk music and excellent arrangers. The collaboration began after the death of Willi Resetarits, when Ernst Molden performed with the Schrammeln in place of the deceased singer. This was followed by several concerts in Vienna and the provinces, culminating in a joint performance as part of André Heller's Vienna evening at the Elbphilharmonie in March 2024. The MEI LIAB cycle brings together eight newly written love songs by Molden with four older, partly iconic pieces (e.g., ES LEM).
