Cilia explores the fascinating movement patterns of cilia - hair-like structures on cell surfaces that have been conserved through evolution. They serve as mouths and stomachs for many microorganisms, transport eggs through the fallopian tubes, and clean the lungs of inhaled foreign bodies.
The dance-based performance conveys this movement complexity in the lungs through the (A-)synchronization of dancers with ciliary beating frequencies.
