TOURDATA

Posthofstraße 43, 4020 Linz

Romeo has to go home, from Vienna to Upper Austria. Grandma is dying. Again. The journey to his hometown is also a time travel back to his own childhood and youth. He meets his old first love again, whom he unfortunately wasn’t allowed to kiss back in school. Her family had forbidden it. Partly because Romeo had the wrong skin color. But mainly because he had too few hectares (Note: none at all).

Surrounded by the smell of grilled chicken and slightly drunk from an entire box of Jägermeister, Romeo becomes nostalgic. Should he not return to Vienna at all, where people are more liberal – but unfortunately also more bland? Is this village his true home? What is home, anyway? Can one be proud of their homeland if they don’t know their own father?

Romeo Kaltenbrunner grew up in the Mühlviertel, in the countryside among lowrider cars and even lower tent festivals, and now lives in Vienna. There, he was always asked about his parental roots, as he looks more exotic than his family name sounds.

"It never gets shallow, the abrupt changes between tent festival and quiet moments are genius... can already be described as cult... intelligent, funny, and thoroughly entertaining" (Kronen Zeitung)
"With clever humor and self-irony, he sheds light on the boundaries of our societal caste system, which are reinforced by fears of contact and prejudices. A must-see!" (Falter)
