ABOUT THE CONCERT
“Da Blechhauf’n” – Austrian for “The Brass Pile,” abbreviated as “BH,” is a brass band from Austria. The seven members – “four from Burgenland, two from Styria, and one vegan” – all play brilliantly and are academically trained musicians. Three trumpets, three trombones, a helicon, and occasionally a button accordion form an ensemble that shies away from nothing. Originally, the musicians indulged their passion for folk music in a new guise with “Da Blechhauf’n.” However, the concept has since evolved into a success story with a highly professional appearance, with the programs of “Da Blechhauf’n” being thematically and technically very diverse. In addition to virtuosic instrumental pieces, “Da Blechhauf’n” also performs works with singing and slapstick elements. Therefore, an evening concert feels not only like a concert but also like a musical cabaret. As aptly stated by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, “Da Blechhauf’n” offers “brass music as one wishes for: dynamic, resounding, and compelling.”
