Music to Listen to Again and Again

In a growing atmosphere of uncertainty and bleak future scenarios, the need for security and stability, for retreat, inner reflection, and protection also increases. For people who find an anchor in their religion, there is a certain level of assurance. However, for those without a traditional religious affiliation, sacred spaces can provide a temporary home, offering the sense of security that is currently needed. Church choirs have been a part of Christian churches since the Reformation. They accompany (in rural areas) the daily lives of village communities in a church context. Furthermore, church choirs are also places of communal action. Due to religious alienation, it is becoming increasingly difficult for choirs to address these societal trends with sufficient new members. The "Church Concert to Go" aims to address various life circumstances of churchgoers with short pieces that refer to individual songs from the classical repertoire – ranging from great joy to deep sorrow. These "mini-concerts" are intended to showcase the choir's performance, present the song repertoire, and highlight areas for development through the inclusion of new songs, independent of the actual performance. Thus, the church experiences a reinterpretation of its own motto: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Mt 11:28) The "Church Concert to Go" can be heard at the parish church of Unterach at 10 AM and 4 PM. Those who wish to take the concert home can pick up a postcard with a QR code in the church foyer. The card provides information about the project, the songs sung, and can also be sent as a postcard. The project was implemented with the support of a LEADER funding program.
