Am Volksgarten 1, 4020 Linz

A brook, a wanderer, a heart that loves – and suffers. With "Die schöne Müllerin," Franz Schubert created far more than just "a few miller's songs," as he modestly wrote in 1823. The first major narrative song cycle of the Romantic era became a milestone of an entire genre – and the musical journey of a young miller's apprentice who treads the painful path of unfulfilled love. In this intimate yet compelling form of song art, musical clarity meets emotional depth.

Günther Groissböck, one of the most significant basses of our time, returns to the Musiktheater Linz after his acclaimed debut in the 2024/25 season. Together with pianist and conductor Florian Krumpöck, he dedicates himself to Schubert's masterpiece with the emotional power, sonic delicacy, and narrative strength that audiences worldwide appreciate. An evening of songs of simple grandeur – touching, focused, and full of romantic melancholy.
