For a long time, Christine Lavant was confined to an image that portrayed her as a poor, sick knitter struggling with God. Only posthumously did she gain a wide readership, and she is now unanimously regarded as one of the most significant German-speaking authors of the 20th century. Lavant's strength lies in her unerring gaze at human relationships and her loving consideration for those to whom life has been less kind. She is the poet of poverty and often unfulfilled love.

The theater production aims to approach an extraordinary poet and woman through the means of choreographic theater in an artistic manner. The image from the past is broken open to allow for a deeper appreciation and reception of her work.

Christine Lavant's uncompromising view of human conditions serves as an inspiration for exploring and interpreting her rich literary oeuvre and her enigmatic personality. The goal of Zdravko Haderlap's choreographic theater was to overcome stereotypes about her and to illuminate her exceptional nature, her boundlessness, her excessiveness.
