The most-walked woman in the world has concluded after over 65,000 kilometers across five continents: Hiking happens everywhere, but it’s different everywhere. She compares the outdoor cultures from Chile to Taiwan with funny and thought-provoking anecdotes from 40 countries and shows what we can learn from them. On her recent trails in Asia, she survived earthquakes, typhoons, and an overdose of kimchi, then went on a pilgrimage for recovery through the European cultural landscape and has repeatedly battled through the wilderness of America and the Australian outback. In the process, the globetrotter learned that not only climate and terrain influence the hiking experience, but also eating habits, beauty ideals, and labor laws. In her new show, she compares the outdoor cultures from Chile to Taiwan with amusing and reflective anecdotes from 40 countries and demonstrates what we can learn from them. Where can you hike around a damaged nuclear power plant? Which outdoor snack is only available here as dog food? And why do some hikers look like bank robbers? The four-time bestselling author surprises with unusual tour suggestions and practical tips and answers her audience's questions live. Above all, she lovingly gives a psychological kick in the butt to those who are fearful and couch potatoes, because she believes: We should all dare to have more adventures! To eliminate excuses, she works with her audience step by step on how one (and especially women) can overcome the fear of solo tours and spend the night alone in the woods. Whether you are searching for God, yourself, or your ideal weight: This encouraging show proves that you will always find happiness while hiking.
When Christine Thürmer was born in 1967, nothing indicated that she would one day become the most-hiked woman in the world. While she was the top student in school, she was absolutely terrible at sports. Thus, she first made a steep career as a manager before realizing after an unexpected layoff and the death of a friend that time – not money – is the most important resource in life. Completely untrained, she hiked 4,277 kilometers from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail, despite flat feet, bow legs, and being overweight! And that’s just the beginning: Since then, she has covered more than 65,000 kilometers on foot, crossed the USA and Europe three times each, and written four books about her adventures. "Run. Eat. Sleep." about the American trails, "Hike. Cycle. Paddle." about her trips in Europe, "Hiking Long Distances" with her accumulated outdoor know-how, and the tour guide "Around the World in 25 Ways" have all been on the Spiegel bestseller list for months.
