Minguet Quartet Memory György Kurtág 100

A century composer celebrates his 100th birthday: György Kurtág is one of the most renowned contemporary composers and has significantly shaped the music of the 20th and 21st centuries with his unique, colorful sound language. The Minguet Quartet honors the exceptional artist with his Officium breve, a twelve-minute miniature consisting of 15 short individual movements. Kurtág composed the work as a 'mini-Requiem' for his deceased composer colleague Andreae Szervánsky. The composition is complemented by Mozart's String Quartet No. 15, which shares the key of D minor with works such as his Requiem or the overture to the opera Don Giovanni. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's String Quartet No. 6 in F minor can also be understood as a 'mini-Requiem': he dedicated the work to his sister Fanny, who had passed away shortly before at the age of just 41.
